Jennifer MacNeil RN, MSN, PMHNP-BC

I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with more than 20 years of experience in nursing. Throughout my work in various acute care settings, I have become passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health care throughout an individual’s life span. My intensive medical background has given me strong clinical skills in assessment and diagnosing, with the natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. I follow evidence-based guidelines integrated with my clinical experience, observational skills, and intuition. My role as a PMHNP is multifaceted, including serving as an educator, mental health advocate, therapist, problem solver, and care coordinator.   

My extensive medical background has given me the ability to treat both mental health and physical health and to address the barriers between them to make us whole as individuals. I believe mental health is just as important as physical health and deserves increased accessibility and awareness in a non-judgmental, safe environment. My values focus on interdisciplinary education, inter-professional collaboration to care for the whole person, and a patient-centered approach to health and wellness.  

I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in nursing. I began my nursing career and completed the critical care nursing fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. I became certified as a critical care nurse throughout my first 10 years of nursing, specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. Over the past decade, I have focused on emergency nursing, trauma, and psychiatric crisis and stabilization.   

Now, my education and experiences have centered me on my true passion for holistically treating patients, both mentally and physically throughout their lives. I created the Advanced Mental Health and Wellness private practice to extend health care services to the individual in a safe, effective, efficient, timely, and equitable environment with the goal of improving health outcomes.

Over the last few decades, Jennifer has worked in Customer Service and Account Management roles in large corporate settings and small start-up businesses. In addition to her extensive experience, she is known for her good humor, empathy, and communication skills.
